    Suffolk University is seeking qualified INTERNAL candidates to consider for the Associate Provost role. The Associate Provost provides oversight for and strategic direction to activities supporting faculty and student academic success including:  the Division of Student Success and the Sawyer Library. Collaboratively ensures successful learning outcomes, a rich student academic experience and a culture of seamless student and faculty support across the University.  THE APPLICATION DEADLINE IS JUNE 11, 2018. Working with the Provost, the Deans and the faculty of each school, the Associate Provost ensures Suffolk University’s graduate and undergraduate curricula meet specialized accreditation requirements; and also that faculty excellence is supported and advanced.

    PRIMARY/PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

    Effectively leads the Division of Student Success and the Sawyer Library. Recruit, train and mentor direct reports.  Develop performance plans, monitor progress and complete annual written appraisals; provide and promote appropriate professional development and learning experiences, support and provide direction.  Works with direct reports to monitor and analyze department work to develop more efficient procedures and use of resources while maintaining a high level of accuracy. Advocates for and serves as liaison between the direct reports and the provost’s office. Provides guidance for the purpose of:

    Developing a multi-year Student Success Plan that establishes goals and benchmarks and integrates best practices to promote year-to-year improvements in student retention and graduation.   Partners with faculty and campus academic and student affairs leaders to collectively and seamlessly support the campus’s ambitious agenda for student success.

    Establishing a baseline and assessment method to measure student success goals, including identifying and monitoring key performance indicators.

    Increasing retention and graduation rates for undergraduate and graduate students through programs, services and early alert and retention systems.  

    Ensuring students have international educational experiences (Gateway, study abroad, internships, summer abroad), to prepare them to become global citizens. Support the Sawyer Library in their efforts to:

    Ensure the offering of well-curated and relevant information resources, instructs students on conducting effective research, and provides technologically enhanced and collaborative learning spaces that meet the evolving needs of students. Working with the Provost and the Deans, develop new interdisciplinary programs and initiatives across the university. Working with the Provost, provide leadership and operational direction for the management of the University-wide academic program review process. Lead the University’s curricular collaborations, articulation agreements, and relationships with other institutions, prioritizing the University mission, fiduciary responsibility and positive impact on the student experience. Serve as the institutional representative with partner institutions for student success initiatives. Represent the Office of the Provost on appropriate committees, student-related appeals issues to ensure institutional policies are followed. Serve as the chief academic liaison to the Office of Student Affairs.

    REQUIREMENTS/QUALIFICATIONS: 

    • Tenured faculty member at Suffolk University.
    • Demonstrated experience managing staff, budgets, and programs.
    • Exceptional oral and written communication skills.
    • Ability to represent the Provost’s Office at all levels of the University and with external constituents.
    • Demonstrated success in leading collaborative projects, and managing details to achieve exceptional operational results.
    • Strong multi-tasking and time management skills, customer service orientation, and ability to interact with diverse constituencies.
