Responsible for the overall network maintenance of a large and complex network infrastructure, in order to deliver online services to customers.
Responsibilities:
- Install, configure, and maintain network circuits and devices. Keep network hardware/software up to date.
- Perform the coordination for various networking tasks and projects both within and outside the department.
- Assist with design and implementation of various network projects.
- Perform extensive troubleshooting on network circuits, routers/switches/firewalls/load-balancers.
- Evaluate new network technologies and network devices.
- Document network infrastructure, network operation processes and procedures.
- Train and assist Network Engineers as needed.
- Perform maintenance duties as well as delegate tasks within the group.
- On-call requiring immediate responses to alerts and addressing network outages.
- Perform other related duties incidental to the work described herein.
Desired Skills and Experience:
- Four years of industry level experience in installing and configuring network systems.
- Experience with TCP/IP networking and routing protocols: Familiarity with BGP, OSPF, HSRP, and VRRP required.
- Experience with layer2 switching technologies, VLAN/Spanning-tree/vPC required.
- Experience with Cisco Nexus and Brocade switches and routers.
- Preferred experience with load balancing technologies, such as Citrix NetScaler.
- Experience with Firewall/ VPN/IPS solutions preferred, such as Palo Alto, Juniper SRX/SSG, Cisco ASA firewalls.
- Experience with LAN/WAN technologies such as Gigabit Ethernet required.
- Excellent trouble-shooting experience with packet sniffers (tcpdump, WireShark, etc).
- Experience with network security, network ACL, sflow, and network management.
- Experience with UNIX/Linux, Perl and shell scripting a plus.
- Must be an effective written and verbal communicator.
Education/Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Computer Engineering, Computer Science or related field, or equivalent work experience.
