Design components for a Formula Car that competes in the FSAE competition each year. Utilize Solidworks to CAD various designs as well as validate these designs through the use of hand calculations and simulation software such as ANSYS. Parts are then manufactured in-house on CNC Mills or Lathes or outsourced to local businesses. Responsible for redesigning a shaft that connects the motor to the car's gearbox which resulted in an increase of a factor of safety by 25% and a decrease in rotational slop by 50%. Additionally responsible for redesigning a plate that connects the motor, upright, and cooling jacket together by reducing the number of bolts to ease the assembly process and shifting the geometry so it doesn't collide with the car's suspension's arms while turning.
